1000 Flowers
Nail the Election
California, Florida, Nevada, New Mexico, New York, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania

"We are concerned that our democracy is withering because so many people, especially women, are choosing not to participate. So, we want to grow a garden of voters and help our democracy blossom!" says one of 1000 Flowers founders, Deborah Moore. "So, don't let this election be a nailbiter. Get out and vote!"

Where do you go to reach as many unregistered single women as possible? Why, the beauty salon of course! And that is exactly where 1000 Flowers' Nail the Election initiative hopes to register to vote as many of the 16 million unregistered single women as possible.

The goal of this non-profit, non-partisan initiative is simple: sign-up 1,000 beauty salons in 8 states across the country, and provide them with the resources and information needed to get their customers and employees registered to vote. All participating salons will receive a "Beauty Kit" from 1000 Flowers, which includes voter registration forms, post cards, promotional nail files, a wall poster, and an eye-catching countertop display.

1000 Flowers is focusing on signing up salons in states that have a high number of unregistered and disenfranchised single women. However, 1000 Flowers will send a Beauty Kit to any salon that requests one (while supplies last!), and will also register women voters online at http://www.1000flowers.org. This is a grassroots effort, so they are looking for more support for this initiative, to maximize their outreach to salons. People and businesses can donate online.
