"Global warming is a huge world issue that can seem paralyzing," said Gary Erickson, owner and founder of Clif Bar Inc. and Global Green USA award recipient for Corporate Environmental Leadership. "We want to take action as a company and educate people about the simple ways every one of us can contribute to solving the global warming crisis. One of the most important ways we, as individuals, can make an impact on global warming is by exercising our right to vote." As a food company with its roots in athletics, Clif Bar Inc., the leading producer of great-tasting, all-natural energy and nutrition foods, understands the connection between health and the environment. Through the "Undo Global Warming, Do the Vote" campaign, Clif Bar Inc. extends this connection to the electoral process. The U.S. is the largest producer of greenhouse gases. Each day, more and more Americans are taking responsibility for their household contributions to global warming by reducing their energy use, recycling waste and choosing alternative forms of transportation. On November 2, with their votes, Americans have the unique and exciting opportunity to influence our planet's health and the environment on a global level through their choice in representation. Through the "Undo Global Warming, Do the Vote" campaign, Clif Bar Inc. is registering voters, distributing information about global warming and educating consumers about the connection between voting and the environment. The campaign aims to register voters at sporting events and "green" festivals nationwide, through street marketing teams in select cities, and online at clifbar.com. Since the campaign launched in February, Clif Bar Inc. has passed out more than 12,000 voter registration cards. |
