The workplace has become one of the leading places where people discuss the issues important to their lives and their families and find a sense of belonging and community with their friends and colleagues.

The workplace also provides a great opportunity to connect busy employees to the democratic process by holding voter registration drives during staff meetings, special events such as employee picnics or during employer-designated days or weeks devoted to voter registration.

All you need is a place to do this, the forms appropriate for registration in each state, addresses to send in the forms for each state, and some signage. If you are having your own staff do this, there is a simple set of FAQs they should also be able to answer, that we can provide. The state PIRGs' New Voters Project has prepared a great voter registration kit for your use, upon request. If you would like to arrange for a non-partisan, non-profit group to come to your location and do voter registration, go to the State PIRGs' New Voters Project.

Employers are reminded that voter registration closes in many states one month before Election Day. Get state voter registration deadlines with the link below.

Voteworks and the state PIRGs' New Voters Project has provided an Employee Campaign Tool Kit including sample posters, employee notifications and text for newsletters and emails to help you ensure that all of your employees are able to exercise their right to vote.
